A cash register is like a typewriter but the writer is solitary. The register is the interface that regulates the delicate economic relationship between two subjects. It is the “net” of a tennis match. So the ball becomes the metaphor for the relationship with the client but also becomes the principal mechanism that guides the design of the moulds and the connections between the elements. The flag-shaped display facing the client is considered an obsolete element of communication and also from an aesthetical point of view, an old-fashioned device. The elimination of the display in favour of a back-projection from the inside of the machine towards the translucent top oriented towards the client, enables the shape to be radically innovated while increasing legibility, access to and use of the information.
Un registratore di cassa è come una macchina per scrivere ma lo scrittore è solitario, il registratore è l’interfaccia che regola il delicato rapporto economico tra due soggetti. E’ la “rete” nella partita di tennis. Così la pallina diventa metafora del rapporto, ma diviene anche principio meccanico che guida il disegno degli stampi e le giunzioni delle scocche. Il display a bandiera rivolto verso il cliente è considerato elemento di comunicazione obsoleto ed oggetto di disturbo estetico. L’eliminazione del display a favore di una retro proiezione dall’interno della macchina verso il piano traslucido inclinato verso il cliente, permette una forte innovazione formale insieme ad una maggiore leggibilità e fruibilità delle informazioni.
